Hey Chuck. I'm an apprentice and very new to jewelry repair. Could you do a video on how to build back up links that have worn themselves very thin? I currently have a fairly large cuban curb chain that is a friend of Mines, that the links are worn thin. Hes allowed me to practice on it.

I've been told at my work to guess how much I have to take out, trust myself and gauge it, would you recommend this? I always calculate the piece that needs to be taken out by calculating, using the current circumference - target circumference. But I've been told this is slow and not the proper way. What would you recommend?

is it new? if so could be a manufacturer defect. if you bought it used look real close to see if it was repaired.

Hi I purchased a 5mm solid rope chain from kay jewelers, ever time I stretch it out it kinks up in different spots. also the links is kind of loose like. do you know what the problem can be.

  • @duke4766

Hello! I purchased a 5mm rope chain from kay jewelers and every time I lay it in the palm of my hand then when I let it hang it knots up then I would have to wiggle it or pull on it for the knots to come out. is that normal . also it's a solid rope chain

    • @AnthonyJewelers

@AnthonyJewelers I returned one that was doing the same thing and I got another one that's doing it also. the links aren't tight like other rope chains you can see through them

What I’ve done in the past with pattern rings that needed downsizing was to add a ring inside the ring. Thus making the ring a bit thicker and in turn a smaller inside circumference without affecting the pattern at all.
